I don’t know if you know this but I LOVE Jennifer Armentrout. I have read almost every book she’s ever written. So when I only had time to read 1 book in June, this was it.
Here’s the 411.
Storm and Fury was published on June 11, 2019
Here’s the blurb
“Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens—gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.
When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…”
Now if you didn’t know this is the first book in a companion series! I HIGHLY recommend you read The Dark elements series before reading this one because you will understand the world better AND several characters from that series are woven into this series. INCLUDING the main character. So without spoiling the dark elements series I’ll just say I was ALWAYS AND FOREVER TEAM ZAYNE. My friends thought I was completely insane, so when Zayne got a book more centered on him I knew I needed it asap. I loved this book. It has everything I love about Jennifer’s writing; witty characters, flirty banter, badasses, strong females, and a good romance. The plot was good, the pacing was good and I just enjoyed every minute of this book. I may have a thing for Gargoyles after reading the dark elements series but now I really think they are HOT HOT HOT! Don’t get me wrong, there’s some hot demons in there too but I love me a good guy. I love that Jennifer gave the good guy a book and he’s a total badass and yet still a bit of a grey character because of his beliefs. I also loved the other main character- Trinity. Jennifer put a lot of herself into Trinity. No she’s not able to fight off all kinds of baddies, but they share the same eye condition and it really showed what Jennifer goes through on a daily basis and the fears she must live with. I loved seeing this point of view and getting that insight. I feel like I know her In a way after reading so many of her books and following her for years but this was a new piece of that. I love how she took this disadvantage and made it so fully rounded in a character and also was able to keep the romance alive. One scene involving the stars really hit me. I loved reading every word of this book but I particularly loved that scene.
So in short, if you think hot badass characters are your thing and you love some great banter between characters, this may be just the book for you! Check it out and let me know what you think!
