GUYS, I got this as an ARC because my friend loves me and knows I love fantasy.
I read it in one sitting. I LOVED IT!So I really enjoyed the cruel prince but I enjoyed the wicked king even more!
This is book 2!! So if you haven’t read the cruel prince (book one) I suggest you don’t read this blurb because it does have spoilers for the cruel prince.
The Wicked King
“You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.
The first lesson is to make yourself strong.
After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.
When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world.”
I loved Jude and Cardan 100 times more in this book. For me the cruel prince started off slow and I hated Cardan and I didn’t like many of the other characters either.
BUT in the wicked king I really enjoyed Jude and Cardan. There are sooooo many twists in this book and I loved them all. Even when I thought I had it all figured out, Holly was like “HA, nah girl I got more”. The ending made me want the next book IMMEDIATELY and now I have to wait for it but ughhhh so goooood!!!!
This book got steamy and I LOVED IT. I wanted more. PLEASE give me all the naughty scenes Holly!! I loved it.
I loved how the characters changed and developed in this book. I love the twisted-ness of court, the betrayal and all the tricks! I loved the story. The characters relationships in this book all take a turn. You think you know who’s on who’s side and then you realize it’s all up in the air as you try to figure out all the motives for each character.
I’m a fan of Holly’s in general. I’ve read her children’s books, middle grade, teen, YA and everything. So I’m really excited that I got to read this early and I ended up pre-ordering more than one copy. Plus I get to meet her at the end of this week! Can I convince my son she’s a real elf? I don’t know but I’d like to try!
Have you read it? I’M dying after that ending. It was magnificent. Truly brutally amazing.
Did you pre-order it? Are you going to or have you met Holly?
